Gisela T. Mateos-González is Full Professor at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Her main research interest is 20th-century science and technology history in Mexico and Latin America. Her focus is on how technical assistance programs have moved scientific and medical practices between socialist countries and the so-called Third World. For the last ten years, she has collaborated with Edna Suárez-Díaz on the history of science in Mexico during the Cold War. They have centered on nuclear technical assistance programs and development in Latin America. They are writing a book on the relationship between development, technical assistance, and the peaceful applications of atomic energy in Mexico.
